Riding Programs
We are an English hunter/jumper barn and offer year-round group riding lessons and summer camps for riders starting at age 6. We currently are not able to offer trail rides or specialized programs for parties or one-time rides. We offer an array of classes starting with beginners to advanced riders. Our beginner “lead line” program currently has a waiting list but for those rusty riders out there, we have openings.
Clothing: Layers are recommended since it does get chilly and weather changes often since we are so close to the ocean. Fitted pants (jeans or breeches) that you will not mind getting dirty, socks are needed for the boots, long ones are best to avoid rubbing if they don't fit perfectly. Anything floppy is not ideal since it can get in the way, such as skirts over pants. No need to buy anything, especially when just beginning as we provide helmets, vests and boots (in Leadline Classes only). If you have long hair, a low braid or ponytail to be most practical. Hair can get caught in the velcro on the vests or in the buckles on the helmet, and french braids along the scalp or high ponytails can get squished uncomfortably in the helmet.
LeadlineFor beginning riders 6 to adult. These are 1:1 lessons that teach basic horsemanship; how to get a horse ready, and how to walk, trot and steer. Leadlines are offered on weekends. To be added to the waitlist for leadline lessons please click button below.
GROUP LESSONSFor riders who have mastered the basics, we offer group lessons. All riders who are new to Miwok Equestrian Center must complete an evaluation ride prior to placement in a class. To schedule an evaluation, please click button below.
